Far more accurate than a ruler and faster
than stacking up setup blocks, JessEm’s Setting Gauge will quickly become one
of your most frequently used router table & table saw accessories. It’s one of those hefty “lifetime” tools that
you’ll love.
As you tighten the solid brass knob, interlocking
teeth machined into the 14-gauge stainless steel body every 1/16” or 1mm
guarantee that your height settings will be accurate and completely repeatable.
Two sizes cover most tool setups: The small gauge has 2-1/4” or 54 mm travel
and the large gauge has 3-3/8” or 90 mm travel.
A 1/8” (3 mm) thick steel plate extending
from the adjustment block easily reaches across large router bits, and you can
use either the plate’s top or bottom surface as a reference.
The gauge has a couple more tricks, too – lay
the gauge on its side and put the base against the fence on your router table,
table saw, or band saw to accurately set the fence’s position.
On a router table, for example, holding the
steel plate’s outer surface against the router bit lets you accurately set the
distance between it and the fence, or the plate’s inner surface can be used to
quickly set how much of the router bit is exposed in front of the fence for
cutting rabbets.
